Dear Parents,
I would like to invite you and your elementary-aged child(ren) to participate in a special Russian language summer camp sponsored by the national STARTALK foreign language program and Utah Russian dual language immersion. This summer language camp is available for children who will start FIRST GRADE through SIXTH grade in Utah elementary schools this fall.
The two weeks long summer camp will run weekdays from Monday, June 20th through Friday, July 1st. Students will attend ONE of two possible sessions: a morning session OR an afternoon session. A snack will be served, but students will not eat lunch at the camp. On the final day of the camp, a student performance for family and friends will be held. You will receive more details about your school’s camp in a letter I send to you from your school.
The children who participate will spend their day learning about Russian language and culture through activities relating to the theme: “Let’s Go to Russia with Winnie the Pooh.” The camp will be taught by a lead Russian teacher with assistance from another Russian teacher. During the camp, students will be immersed in Russian as they learn about numbers, letters, colors, and family. They will also participate in Russian culture by performing Russian folk dances and singing Russian children’s songs.
In your letter, you will find a copy of a consent form that you will need to complete and return to the main office at your school. This form will serve as your registration form for the camp. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at brandee.mau@gmail.com. We are very excited about this great opportunity and hope that you will join us!
Sincerely,
Brandee Mau
